    Term 4:
Yesterday (7.12.11) was the 70th Anniversary of the Pearl Harbour Bombing. The Pearl Harbour bombing was when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbour in Hawaii, 1941. This bombing brought the United States into the World War 2.
For me, this was a very emotional topic to research. The thing that got to me most was the gas bombings. Children today are still disfigured from the effects of the Hiroshima Gas that the Japanese so tragically dropped on Pearl Harbour.

As you may know, the Rugby World Cup, 2011, held in the one and only, best country of the world (NZ) has come to an end, with the All Blacks (The NZ Rugby Team) were the winners - of course. So, the first thing we have done in Writing for Term 4 was to put together a news sheet about the highlights of the Rugby World Cup. I did mine on the All Blacks winning the Cup, the Welsh doing their country proud, Aaron Cruden (All Black) showing NZ what he could do, The Opening Ceremony, and watching all the matches with my family at home.
    Below is my News Sheet:

    Term 4
For Term 4, our main unit of Maths work has been Multiplication and Division. Check out my Term 4 assessments page to see how the Post Test went.
Overall, the unit of work was pretty good. I learnt a reasonable amount, and my mum helped with quite a lot at home.
    Term 3

It is now Term 3, we are looking at Percentages, Decimals and Fractions. We practice on Mathletics every morning as well as regular sessions with Mrs S. We have completed many different pre-tests and maths challenges. I have been continuing to practice my maths at home too.
These are the following things we have covered this term:
    ...
We have also devised maths goals. Please check out my Goals page to access my Maths Goals.
Currently, I am pleased with my maths achievements. Below is my current Gold Bar Status on Mathletics (ie. How many tasks I have completed and achieved well at.)

    Term 2:
For Maths during term two we covered Algebra. Although I didn't get a very good score in the Algebra Pre-test (3A), I was still pleased with my progress in Algebra. The Algebra Post-test I scored the same as the Pre-test (3A) but my weaknesses were far lower, so I was pleased with that :)
    ...
Liam and I have decided that we want to focus on our customers being able to buy in bulk as we live in a rural area and a large majority of supermarket customers are farmers who tend to buy in bulk as they only come into town every now and then. We also want to be able to provide personal products as well as the usual products you can purchase at supermarkets. If you have heard of the supermarket Moore Wilsons you will know that they sell in bulk. We are going to base our supermarket on Moore Wilsons. At the moment we are looking at whether to we need to sell meat, but it's a 50 - 50 call as lots of people will process their own meat or purchase meat at the butcher.
We have conducted a survey for the people in our class to find out about their grocery shopping habits. At the moment, we have found that a lot of people buy food at Pak 'n' Save because of the low price. We are both extremely surprised in the fact that a LOT of people buy their meat at Pak 'n' Save because it is a cheaper option. The thing that most intrigued us about people buying their meat at Pak 'n' Save is that all of the people we interviewed either live on farms or in rural areas, so you'd think they would have their own home kill or be fussy enough about the quality of their meat, like most New Zealanders, to go to a butcher. We are thinking that we may have a butcher in our supermarket so the meat and goods is great quality but at easier access for customers.

    Maths EasTTLe Test:
We have just completed our end of year overall Maths EasTTLe Test. By the end of the year, my goal was to score a 4A as during the middle of the year, I scored a 3A. I was very disappointed in myself when I scored a 3A in June, as I knew I could of done WAY better. So, for the rest of the year up until now, I have been working really hard at my maths by practising every night after school and getting Mum and Dad to help me out. Because I was so determined to improve, I'm happy to say that I fulfilled my maths goal and achieved a 4A which is just above average for my age, and I right where I should and want to be! I am so happy with myself - all the hard work and practice really payed off! :)
    Multiplication and Division Post Test:
After this unit of work, we completed a Post Test. The Pre-Test I got one wrong - but I was really pleased with my score even so. However, the Post Test, I got the same score. It was annoying though, because the one I got wrong was silly little mistake! Never mind. I'm happy because the one that I got wrong last time was one I got right this time. We hadn't even covered how to work those type of sums out and I still got it. I'm very pleased.

    Basic Facts Ladder Test:
This maths tests is pretty much just a HUGE test on your basic facts knowledge. It includes multiplication, division, addition, subtraction, decimals, factors etc. There are all together 8 stages of achievements for this test. The highest stage is Stage 8. My goal was to move up from Stage 7, to Stage 8. I practiced very frequently, and achieved my goal! I am very proud of myself as i really struggled with the questions in Stage 8. When I practiced a bit harder though, I found I already knew all that stuff, I just didn't realise it!

Overall, this camp was utterly AMAZING! I did a lot of things I didn't think I would ever do! How many people can see themselves walking across slippery beams 20 ft or more in the air?? Not many I expect.
I think I could of been more daring on this Camp if you know what I mean. I also think that although not really one of those people who like to take complete charge, I should of taken more notice of other people and their ideas instead of assuming those who were speaking up were right. I would like to pursue Flying Foxing as a career if at all possible!! :)

I thinks its awesome the way my syndicate has access to one to one macbooks to work on, and it's a fantastic way to learn as 90 % of our learning and work is done on our laptops!
I live on a large lifestyle block with my family, my horse Pete, dogs and guinea pigs. We have just had our house renovated, so now it's a lot bigger and I think the renovations look AWESOME!

This week we have been looking at writing Mystery Stories. Livvy and I wrote one about a girl who is murdered and her best friend has to find out who the murderer was. Will the murderer ever be convicted? I really enjoyed working with Livvy, 2 minds are greater then 1 :)
